Maryland Mamma's Rambles & Reviews: KidKraft Baking and Toaster Set!

Growing up, one of mine and my sister’s favorite imaginative play scenarios was “cooking” in our “kitchen”. We make believed baking cookies, making spaghetti, cooking eggs, and much more. When I saw the Expresso Baking Set and the Expresso Toaster Set from KidKraft, I was immediately taken back to my childhood of such fun culinary play!

KidKraft generously sent me each set to test out and review. Both sets are made from high quality composite wooden materials. The wooden look gives the toys a nostalgic and classic feel to them! Your young budding chef will love toasting and buttering the bread or mixing and baking cookies.

The Expresso Toaster set includes a pop-up toaster, a stick of butter, two slices of pretend bread, a butter plate, and a butter knife. The Expresso Baking set includes a mixer, mixing bowl, rolling pin, cooking pan, two pretend chocolate chip cookies, and measuring spoon. I absolutely love that assembly is not required for either set! Don’t forget that both sets go perfect with the Uptown Expresso Kitchen.

Since my son is a little young for these toys, we took them over to my friend’s house to let her daughter test them out. They were a hit! While her mom watched the little man, her daughter and I got down to some baking and toasting! She enjoyed making the toast pop up and down with the Toaster set.

The butter stick is several pieces held together by velcro so they can be pulled apart to make smaller slices of butter. While she thought the butter was a little too hard to “cut” with the butter knife , she certainly had fun putting the pieces back together into one big butter stick. She liked that the mixer lifts in and out of the mixing bowl, but wished there was a way to make mixer spin. Overall she loved the toys very much and had a lot of fun with them.

These products sat out on my dining room table while I was writing reviews. Friends, family, and holiday guests were in and out of my home constantly these past two weeks. Very often someone would comment on these toys. I heard everything from “beautiful” to “classic” to “Oh my daughter would love those!”. Every comment was a positive one!

Don’t forget to connect with KidKraft on Facebook and Twitter! Check out their blog to keep up to date with the latest news and happenings.

Buy It: Both the Baking Set and Toaster Set are currently listed on Amazon for $23.00 each. You can also find a local retailer near you.

I received complimentary product(s) to facilitate this review from the sponsoring company. This is 100% my own honest opinion. No one has influenced me otherwise and I was in no way compensated financially. This review is solely based on my own experience with this product.

Mommy Katie Reviews KidKraft's New Espresso Baking Set

I love the holidays and I love finding new products to give the kids over this time of the year. Aside from the holidays kids also have birthdays, so whether you are shopping for those last minute gifts this season or when you are shopping for birthday presents then check out the great products for kids over at KidKraft.

I love KidKraft and this holiday season I was sent the new Espresso Baking Set from KidKraft to review. This is great for those little bakers out there and the little kitchen helpers as well! My kids love to help in the kitchen and they also love to pretend that they are baking and creating meals with their toys. This set is perfect for those pretend kitchen times that my kids have.

They can use the mixer and make all kinds of great creations just like mommy makes with her big mixer. They can also measure then roll out dough for pretend pizza and cookies. Then once they are done mixing and rolling the dough they can put it on the baking sheet then into the oven.

Once they are done with their pretend baking they can feed the completed fake cookies to their doll friends!! If your kids love the kitchen as much as mine do, then they will definitely love the KidKraft Espresso Baking Set. Also to complete the Espresso set they can get the Espresso Toaster Set and even the Uptown Espresso Kitchen!!!

This was not a paid post and honest/original opinions were used and they are my own. Thank you to the company and/or pr agency who supplied the product for review.

Nicole Kidman Opens Boutique on Rue La La. Will offer KidKraft Products!

by JENNY SCHAFER

Following the success of Courteney Cox’s boutique to benefit the EBMRF, mom-of-four Nicole Kidman is opening her own store which will include products from Max Daniel, Kidkraft and Vintage Hermes. All of the proceeds will go toward the Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, a cause that is close to her heart.

I am thrilled to partner with Rue La La to support Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, which provides a real place of hope for women,” Nicole tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “In my ‘Doing A Little Good’ boutique I have chosen items to encourage moms to shop for a cause this holiday season and help this amazing program which is so close to my heart.”

Nicole added: "My mother had breast cancer when I was 17, so I was personally affected by the disease. I saw a woman suffering, a woman who I loved, who was the heartbeat of our family, going through such distress. This is where I’m putting my efforts right now – keeping our mothers, sisters, and daughters healthy."

Nicole and ex-husband Tom Cruise are parents to daughter Bella, 19, and son Connor, nearly 17, while she and husband Keith Urban are parents to daughters Sunday, 3, and Faith, 11 months. The Academy Award-winning actress says she loves motherhood.

I love nurturing and caring for children," Nicole said.

"I obviously love my own children, but I feel an enormous connection to children in general. I’ve always been very drawn to them. I think being an actor gives you a very childlike quality. We still get to play a lot, so my sense of play, my spirit of play, is heightened. I think children keep that alive in you."

When asked if she sees her fashion sense in her daughters, Nicole replied,
I try not to see myself in my daughters," she said. "I try to see them as who they are. My 3 1/2-year-old just happens to be absolutely obsessed and delighted with clothes, shoes, and jewelry – anything that sparkles. And my other two daughters, they aren’t interested in any part of it. It’s fascinating watching them evolve.

And as for the upcoming holiday celebrations in the Kidman-Urban household, Nicole said, "We decorate, we snuggle, we go to church, we see friends and family. And we try to remember that Christmas is not all about 'the presents.' It’s a time to reflect."

The Nicole Kidman 'Doing A Little Good' boutique opens on December 15th at 8:00 p.m. EST. The boutique will benefit reproductive cancer research at Stanford Women’s Cancer Center under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Berek, a world-renowned expert in ovarian cancer.

The Center, which is dedicated to bringing hope and healing to women with breast and gynecologic cancers, delivers integrated, comprehensive, personalized care to patients and their families. Its advanced research is illuminating new possibilities in early detection and prevention, genetics, cancer vaccines, immunotherapy, and cancer stem cells.

Savingandmore.com Reviews KidKraft's Room Decor Letters

I absolutely love KidKraft Room Decor Products! I was able to Review the Names for my Children.  Matteo was so excited to see his Name on his wall!

If your looking for an interesting and unique way to spruce up your child’s home you can’t go wrong with KidKraft.

All of the Room Decor Letters are very durable and easy to hang on the walls.
There are so many different designs to choose from.

I personally chose the White Letters to match the rest of my Furniture.  They have a lot of patterns and designs which you can find on their website KidKraft.com

Each of the letters come in lowercase font and the following things are what I liked about them:
  • Made of Wood  - This showed me that Kid Kraft is dedicated to a quality product.
  • 6 Inches High - easy to see and read for the kids.
  • Looks great hanging on any wall – which is a great way to spruce up your child’s room.
  • Makes a great gift - what kid wouldn’t want to have their name or a message on their wall.
  • Available in other patterns - a design to fit anyone’s quirky personality.

About KidKraft

Mommy and Me Giveaways Reviews KidKraft 2-in-1 Activity Table giveaway (US only)

Hi everyone, Lisa here with our second giveaway today for 12 Days of Christmas! Yes, we did line up 2 giveaways for most days of this event! This giveaway is from KidKraft for the 2-in-1 Activity Table! I have tried to line up a KidKraft giveaway many times since we started our blog and they finally agreed to one for this great event. I had been looking for a Lego/Duplo table for Davey, and I have heard great things about KidKraft. When I saw they had a 2-in-1 Activity Table which includes a 2-sided board where one side is for Legos and one side is for a train set I knew I just had to have it for Davey!

First of all the 2-in-1 Activity Table was super easy to put together! The instructions were clear and I think it took less than 30 minutes to put it together. Maybe more like 15 minutes! Davey’s favorite toy lately is his Duplo set but we didn’t have any building plates for his Duplos so this activity table is the perfect solution! One side of the board is a Lego building plate and it comes with 200 Lego-compatible blocks. I did let Davey play with the Lego-compatible blocks when we first set up the table but they were a little too hard for him to put together. He is still a little young for Legos. So I pulled out his Duplos and they work well with the activity table!
Davey playing with the Lego-compatible blocks.

Davey trying out his Duplos on the Lego table.

Davey also loves the train side of the activity table. It comes with a 30-piece wooden train set which also includes a small wooden car to drive on the road on the board, a house, trees, and a couple of wooden men. I put the train together and Davey played with it for quite some time! Then he took it all apart and tried to put it together himself. He can get the pieces together himself just fine, but he doesn’t know how to put it together correctly in the figure-8 pattern.

Davey playing with the train set.

Davey trying to put the train tracks together himself.

The activity board lifts up to reveal a compartment for storing the train set and blocks in. The only downside I have found to this table is that it would be better if it had drawers to keep the pieces in because you have to lift the table up to get the toys out. However Davey tends to keep all his toys scattered around his room so it is not a problem for us! He does put the train pieces in the compartment sometimes and reaches through the little holes on each side to get them out. He mostly plays with his Duplos with the Lego side of the table and he keeps his Duplos in the bucket they came in under the table. The 2-in-1 Activity Table would make a wonderful Christmas gift for your little ones! It is very sturdy, and although it is smaller than most train tables I have looked at, it is plenty big enough for 2-4 kids to gather around it

My 3 Little Kittens Reviews KidKraft Table with Pastel Benches Review

Thanks to my recent move, my Daughter finally gets her own bedroom. I have to admit that I was looking forward to this much more than she was. Since she is only 2, the transition didn’t mean too much for her, but for me it meant that she could finally have the girlie room that I had envisioned for her. So I was extremely excited to be able to review the Table and Pastel Benches from KidKraft because it is the perfect addition to her new room.

Table with Pastel Benches - Item 26162
I was given a choice of what item to review and I chose the Table and Pastel Benches because I wanted functionality. The color scheme of the set is perfect for any little girl and just screams, “tea party time!” The pastels offer an adorable touch without overwhelming the room with a single color. The benches are perfect for little ones to sit and relax on.

I wanted something that my Daughter could use that would not leave me hovering about just to make sure she didn’t fall off the chair, which is why the benches are beyond perfect for her. The table itself is just as sturdy as the rest of the set and the fact that it hangs out from the base makes it a great table for children. My favorite part of all is the trundle underneath. I will admit that the trundle was the biggest selling point for me. The functionality in a large-size toy storage area that is concealed when not in use is fantastic. It is so nice to have a place for my Daughter’s toys and a clutter-free space.

I have purchased KidKraft products in the past and they are always outstanding. My husband purchased the Metropolis Train Table and Set for our Son about 2 years ago and it is such a wonderful product as well. When we went to put the table together, the table top pieces were incorrectly placed in the box, so we had to request replacement pieces.

Usually when I make a purchase and there is a problem, it can take months (yes, I said months) to get the correct pieces. However, KidKraft sent out the replacement parts and we received them in only a couple days, which is a true testament to their outstanding customer service. Thanks to their dedication to keeping their customers happy and offering products that are far more likely for a child to outgrow rather than break, KidKraft is a brand I trust and will continue to purchase from.

Backyard Makeover with KidKraft Adirondack Chair by Thrifty & Chic Mom

Photo by Ellen/Thrifty & Chic Mom
KidKraft makes wonderful children’s toys as well as furniture, we have a dollhouse bookcase that we adore in our home right now, but I never thought of them as an outdoor company. I was wrong to ignore KidKraft as an outdoor furniture source, they offer great outdoor pieces that will make your backyard into a place all the kids will want to play. I love the octagon table with four stools, it is such a unique and fun take on the traditional picnic table for kids outdoor dining. Another great option are the Adirondack chairs, these are the perfect movable seating for kids.

Photo by Ellen/Thrifty & Chic Mom
I received a KidKraft adirondack chair in honey and it is adorable. Upon receiving it my husband began to open the box to build it in the house, warning not a good idea as their was sawdust from the pieces so we quickly moved the construction outside before a huge mess was made. The assembly of the chair was quite easy and I am very happy with the end result.

The chair is very sturdy made of wood and treated with a water resistant stain. My girls love relaxing in the chair and it looks really cute sitting in the yard next to their playhouse. Really the only downside to this adorable chair is the price, at $99 it is a bit steep.

While you can buy plastic Adirondack chairs for a fraction of the price they are not as sturdy and will probably only last a summer while this will be around a long, long time plus it looks much better than plastic. Be sure to check out the KidKraft Adirondack chairs and all the other great KidKraft outdoor products when adding to your backyard this summer.

I received product free of charge, all opinions are my own.

Hey?! A Mom Can Dream Reviews the Nantucket Storage Bench in Pastel

My experience with KidKraft

When I was pregnant, I desperately wanted to know the sex of the baby. But the baby wasn’t interested in divulging that information. So we did up the nursery in a neutral scheme that we thought would be suitable for either. But then I had my sweet baby girl and we felt like the room was too masculine for our princess. So, we had to re-do it.

I didn’t want to go overboard on the girly spectrum, so although the walls are pink, there are a lot of pastel blues, greens and yellows as well. We re-used my son’s crib and glider and bought a dresser that doubles as a changing table. But the hand-me-down toy box we had just wouldn’t work.

I didn’t want a toy box that she could get her fingers squished in and if I learned anything from the deep toy boxes that my son has it’s that the little pieces go to the bottom and disappear under the endless oblivion of toys. So I thought baskets or drawers would be good. And I wanted it to fit the color scheme without having to paint because I don’t have time to do that.

My quest was complete when I landed on KidKraft.com. I found the most amazing Nantucket Style Storage Bench with pastel storage compartments. I loved the beautiful styling and I knew that I had to have it.

When I received the box, it was a little bigger than expected. My husband carried it upstairs and we ripped open the box. I realized then that the box was bigger because the packaging was so protective. There wasn’t one scratch, mar or dent on any of the pieces.

We unloaded the box and laid out all of the pieces. The directions were clear and easy to follow. And the assembly was cake. I actually assembled all of the drawers while my husband assembled the bench section. (Of course the kids sat happily on the carpet beside us clapping and cheering us on.)

When it was all together my son immediately took a seat on the bench. It was the perfect height and looked awesome in front of her window. I was impressed at the sturdy wood construction and very happy with the colors and styling. And I really liked that I could separate her toys in the different bins.

I absolutely love our new storage bench. If you are looking for furniture or décor for your child’s room, or some pretty amazing wooden playsets, head over to KidKraft.com and take a look. You won’t be disappointed. You can also connect with KidKraft on facebook and twitter!

Raising Small Souls Reviews The Majestic Mansion Dollhouse

Kidkraft Majestic Mansion 65252 Dollhouse

The Kidkraft Majestic dollhouse is a lovely dream come true for little girls! Just looking at the glorious photos of this dollhouse make me want to turn back the clock (I’m in my 30′s!) so that I can be a little girl again and play with this magical dollhouse with my friends! If you’re comparing all of the available dollhouses on the market, you’ll notice that this Majestic dollhouse is larger than most of the others, comes fully stocked with a generous assortment of furniture, and has fabulous feedback from online reviewers who have purchased it.

The vast size of the Kidkraft Majestic Mansion 65252 dollhouse makes it a winner for big families, as there is plenty of room for multiple children to play with it simultaneously — which eliminates arguments and fights, always a good thing in a house full of kids! You’ll want to be sure that you have sufficient space for the Majestic dollhouse, so here are the dimensions: 51 x 14 x 52.8 inches, and over 4.5 feet tall! When you look at the photos of children playing with this dollhouse know that the kids have not been scaled down to make the product appear larger, as other companies often do in their promotional photos, so be aware that thing is seriously large!

The back of the dollhouse is smooth and can be bolted to the wall, yet it is not necessary as the Majestic dollhouse is very sturdy. It does weigh about 60 lbs, so it can be moved by an adult. The quality of the wood is wonderful, so that this dollhouse will last for many years of every day playing, unlike similar plastic dollhouses. (Plastics have a finite lifespan of just a few years, after which they start to get brittle and crack when manipulated.) If you have a toddler who may want to climb the dollhouse like a ladder, then you might want to have it bolted to the wall for additional safety, although it’s hard to imagine this dollhouse tipping unless a very heavy child is climbing on it!

KidKraft Majestic Mansion 65252:

The feedback on this Majestic dollhouse has been tremendous! It’s unusual to see exclusively four and five star on large products with many pieces. Currently, this dollhouse has fifty-seven five star-ratings and nine four-star ratings on Amazon. Parents reported that they (and their little girls) were absolutely thrilled when their Majestic dollhouse arrived; the few complaints that were had are outlined later on in this review, so keep reading!

Here are some tips from experienced owners of the Kidcraft Majestic dollhouse:
Read through the instructions and look through all of the pieces before you get started, so that you know what you have and what everything is called.

Allow yourself 2-4 hours to build the entire dollhouse. It is a mansion, after all! If two people are building it together, it should take just about two hours.

Do not screw the elevator part very tightly; leave it a bit lose or else it is hard to move it up and down.

You’ll need a large and small Phillips screwdriver; Kidkraft supplies the alley wrench with the dollhouse.

Don’t wait for the last minute to put this together, just in case a piece needs to be replaced. Kidkraft will ship any broken or scratched replacement parts at no charge, but plan ahead for birthdays or the holidays and order the dollhouse at least a month before you need it!

As the dollhouse is made of wood, sometimes pieces of dollhouse furniture or house parts get broken during shipping. There is a toll free number in the manual to call, and Kidkraft will ship you replacements at no charge right away! It’s wonderful to deal with a company that has superior customer service in this day and age!

Since the whole house is 4 and half feet tall, young (or short!) kids will need some kind of step stool to reach the top floor of the dollhouse where the attic is located. I think the height of the dollhouse makes it that much more fun and realistic for little people whose heads normally reach doorknob level in real houses!

From a happy mother: “My daughters don’t even want to take a break from playing with this dollhouse to come to dinner! It is very well built and has a lot of furniture, which would have cost a lot to buy separately considering the cost of dollhouse furniture, so it’s a really good value for the money. This dollhouse is something that my girls will play with for years to come.” See more reviews here.

The instructions are very clear; they are written with pictures which are simple to follow. You do have to be sure that you’re using the right piece and looking at the correct side of each piece, but if you spread everything out and read through the instructions of how to build the Majestic dollhouse in the beginning, then you’ll be fine. All the parts are labeled for your convenience.

The furniture that comes along with the Kidkraft Majestic Mansion 65252 dollhouse is all very sturdy and made out of wood for years of quality playtime! You can actually feel that the furniture is high quality in your hands, especially if you’ve previously played with plastic furniture.

Any complaints?

The chandelier can come off because it’s attached with string around wood. However, if you glue it in place with wood glue it will be fine.

The elevator can be tough to move up and down. There are 2 tips to enable your dolls to easily ride the elevator: Don’t tighten the elevator screws all the way, and put a bit of WD40 on the sides so that it will glide smoothly. Viola! A smooth elevator ride for the dolls!

Where can I find the best price for the Kidkraft Majestic dollhouse?

After researching many merchants (both online and offline), I found that the best deal was from Amazon. Walmart’s price is very similar, but Amazon offers free shipping while you’d pay an additional $15 in shipping costs to order through Walmart! I was also surprised to see that Costco’s price was about $20 more than Amazon’s! Check the current discounted price on Amazon here.

BuyModernBaby.com Reviews Uptown Espresso Kitchen

There are so many great and creative kitchen play sets to buy or make yourself. I’m not the handiest person and I don’t have tons of time for crafty projects so I’m not going to make one (that’s why the site is BUY modern baby).

In looking at the options available to purchase, I’ve never found anything that was quite right until now. I finally found the one that would work in our home! Coming soon from KidKraft, the Uptown Espresso Kitchen is just what I’ve been looking for!

From what I can tell, it will retail for $180 so it would be a perfect as a holiday gift– especially shared between my two boys.See how perfectly it would fit in our home? Here’s a photo of our kitchen the night it was finished. We redid the entire kitchen 2 years ago- keeping the layout the same as the original. The kitchen overlooks the family room.

Now that I think about it, I actually did make a play kitchen once when my oldest was very little…

It went into the recycling bin when we moved

KidSummers: Your little guy will love this fire house!

Here is a great customer review of our Deluxe Fire Rescue Set posted on KidSummers.com.

Avery has a gorgeous KidKraft doll house that the boys have always been just a little jealous about, so I knew that they would love this KidKraft fire station. It is such a great doll house for boys (and girls too!) and is exactly the type of thing that Griffin loves.

This fire house arrived while we were out one morning, so when we arrived home there was a huge box with a picture of the fire house on the side. Griffin’s head almost exploded! We couldn’t get it in the house and put together fast enough.

I laid out all of the pieces on floor and wondered how long it was going to take to put this together. It would have been much quicker if I knew where my electric screwdriver was, but doing things the old fashioned manual way, it took me almost an hour.

Thankfully, the trucks were already together, so Griffin amused himself with those and the 3 firemen while I put it together. He was so happy when it was together, and even now that it has been a few weeks, he still loves it and plays with it regularly.I videotaped him playing with the fire house and it is so funny. In typical boy fashion, the bathroom is one of his favourite parts of this house.

A Kid Place Reviews Kidkraft's Thomas and Friends Collection

Kidkraft Thomas and Friends Furniture Finds Success Full Steam Ahead

All aboard! Engine No. 1 has arrived with style! The new Kidkraft Thomas and Friends furniture line is sure to be a hit with preschoolers. This new, brightly colored furniture collection is made of wood, modestly priced and just the right size for growing toddlers and preschool aged children. The set pieces include a wonderful toy box, table and chair set, a step stool capable of hiding treasures and an adorable Thomas the Tank Engine bed that will fit a crib mattress. Each piece of furniture is soundly constructed and depicts Thomas the Tank Engine as he goes about his daily routine.

Thomas & Friends first arrived on the children's scene in 1946 as the stars of The Railway Series written by Rev. W. Awdry. Shortly after his introduction into popular literature, Thomas, and his friends on the Island of Sodor, became favorites of kids everywhere. Rev. W. Awdry eventually retired from writing, but in 1983, his son Christopher began writing stories for his own son Richard. In 1984 The Railway Series was given the animation treatment, and Thomas was given the lead role. In 2004 Thomas and Friends received a make-over, giving fans the face of Thomas that is well-known today.

It is this much loved Thomas that is depicted so beautifully on the Kidkraft Thomas & Friends furniture line. Kidkraft's Thomas & Friends toy box is designed for placement in a child's bedroom or playroom. The toy box is a great way to keep kids' bedrooms and playrooms organized and also doubles as a handy bench. The step-and-store stool is another great multi-purpose item that can be used to store and organize odds and ends. But it is the table and chairs set and toddler bed that are the real scene stealers of the collection. Thomas's face, train car body and railway will bring life to any room; the bright colors, scenic details and embellishments on the furniture are hard to beat.

All Kidkraft Thomas & Friends furniture pieces have a sturdy wood construction and are decorated with non-toxic, lead-free paint and materials. However, it is Thomas and his friends themselves that are the true selling points of this great children's furniture. Thomas's blue tank engine, colorful friends and red color accents will make any room fun and cheery. Their friendly, familiar faces are just the ticket for sending children on a trip to dreamland.

Where to find Kidkraft Thomas and Friends Furniture

You can find the Kidkraft Thomas and Friends Furniture Collection, along with over a thousand other children's products, at great prices, at A Kid Place. Choose from a wide selection of bedroom furnishings, train tables, wooden play kitchens, and more, and create the bedroom or playroom of your little ones' dreams.
