Retailers Balance Space Issues With Service and Special Orders: TD Monthly

“We do well with KidKraft kitchens and playhouses. We sell them year-round
and offer free assembly,”  - Shawntá Ray, Happy Up Inc.

Children's furnishings and playhouses can enrich a play environment, but cost and size prohibit many specialty stores from carrying them, 21 of 43 retailers indicated in a recent TDmonthly Magazine survey.

“Unless you have the room to house a large variety, people will come in, look at the one or two pieces you sell, and if they're not quite sure what they had in mind, they'll look elsewhere,” said Michelle Bears, owner of The Toy Store in Highlands, N.C.

When every square foot and spare dollar counts, even doll houses can leave a storeowner wondering if space could be better utilized.

Retailers that do decide to stock these items — capitalizing on lines from KidKraft, Melissa & Doug, Guidecraft and Nilo — take different approaches to ensure their success.

Constructed of sturdy wood with bright primary colors, this kitchen island comes with four major appliances and accessories. Multiple children can play together, sharing pretend household tasks at the stove, microwave, sink and oven. Turning nobs, opening doors, shakers and utensils add to the fun.

― “We do well with KidKraft kitchens and playhouses. We sell them year-round and offer free assembly,” said Shawntá Ray, owner of Happy Up Inc in Edwardsville, Ill., when asked about her best-selling furniture and playhouse items during a May 2010 survey.

― Four of 48 retailers told TDmonthly in spring 2010 that KidKraft is a best-selling playhouse and furniture brand in their stores.

FireFly Blog Reviews Kidkraft Baking Set

We received an item free of charge for a review that my daughter wanted for so long. KidKraft Bright Baking Set has been on her wish list for years, and with all of her love for helping mommy cook I’m not surprised.

The item was received quickly in an excellent condition. A full box of kitchen goodies made of soft non-toxic wood, with bright colors that sure are to brighten any room your child brings them in.

The item includes 8 colorful toys that are:

•Mixer that lifts in and out for easy removal of the bowl
•Mixing bowl
•Rolling pin rolls back and forth
•Cooking pan
•Two chocolate chip cookies
•Spatula
•Measuring spoon

And best part there is no assembly required, which means your child can start playing as soon as the item is out of the box.

Princess absolutely loves this baking set. She is pretending and playing in her kitchen all the time. The stand mixer is so pretty (and may I add better than mommy has) that she is mixing some yummy pretend food all the time. Each item is so well made and real looking that play time is just perfect with KidKraft toys.

I’ve always loved KidKraft toys. They are perfectly made with real like style that truly can unleash the child’s imagination. Every piece is perfect and made of soft wood, and non-toxic materials perfect for kids, and it gives parents that freedom to let their kids play and explore freely.

The KidKraft Bright Baking Set is for children 3 plus, and it comes in bright pink, orange, blue and green colors on the natural wood. This same set also comes in the pastel color scheme and is available at Toys and Games Online for $19.95.

Babyology Reviews KidKraft's Modern Toddler Cot

"Wow! A fine piece of kid’s furniture that is available in Australia and also affordable??? Yehey!!"
Babyology.com.au is an Australia based lifestyle website that focuses on keeping hip parents and their kiddos current on the world of baby-related design. As an online resource guide, not an e-catalog Babyology offers the latest news in 'must have' baby related products from toys, clothes, to gadgets.

The Review:Lovely memories are evoked when I think of my daughter’s toddler bed. It was where lots of ‘firsts’ took place: the first book reading with me perched on the side, the first time she got out of bed by herself and the first time I knew for sure my baby was no longer a baby.

I also remember the bit that took place before the wonderful memories. The eternal searching and finally buying the perfect toddler bed bit. It took at least a month to narrow the search as what I wanted seemed unattainable. I wanted a simple, designer-driven bed in a natural wood colour. I did finally get what I wanted but paid a lot more than the impeccably crafted
KidKraft Modern Toddler Cot.

KidKraft, a US company with forty years in the industry, has made a toddler bed that is a modern parent’s dream come true. It ticks all the boxes mentioned above plus has a stunning bench at the foot of the bed perfect for storage or seating while getting dressed. There’s non-fussy bed rails for security and a low to the ground design for easy access.

To start your toddler on their new bed journey with this sensational piece, go to Buyster.com.au which has them locally for only $279 plus shipping. Buyster also stock a huge range of seating, storage, desks and other furniture from the KidKraft range.

Don’t forget to check out the vast range of fabulous toys and playsets, a few of which are available in Australia.

Kids Furniture: $100 Off Sale

"So I was relieved when we were gifted a new KidKraft table for kids.
The outdoor furniture makes our yard look inviting and homey." -Jeanne Sager

My family has been spending a lot more time outdoors thanks to a mix of warm weather and longer days.

So I was relieved when we were gifted a new KidKraft table for kids. The outdoor furniture makes our yard look inviting and homey.

I'm a big fan of kids' outdoor furniture -- it's nice to simply relax outdoors and not worry about them falling off of the adult-sized pieces in the yard. Simple is always safer.

And even when it comes with all these great ratings from moms (the KidKraft stuff has good reviews up the wazoo at spots like Amazon and from word-of-mouth among friends)...It's on sale for just $121.49 at Sobongo! And since it was gifted our way, I can tell you this little table is sturdy!

It's made of solid wood and the benches -- though small -- can be pulled away so adults can sit on them with the kids. The octagonal table top is sizeable; enough so that my daughter, her friend, her friend's Mom, and I all sat down and had an afternoon snack on it last week with no elbows hitting and plenty of room for bagel chips and water cups.

KidKraft Kitchen Makes a Wonderful Holiday Gift

Featured on Buzzillions.com, a couple gifts their granddaughter with a KidKraft Large Kitchen and shares little Carly's excitement at the amazing authenticity of the play kitchen.

"My husband and I gave this gift to our two year old granddaughter Carly for Chanukah. She was so amazed by the kitchen and how realistic it looked that she just stood and stared at it for at least 30 seconds.

But then she got out her play pots, pans and utensils and started cooking, washing dishes, opening the refrigerator, stove and microwave and generally having a terrific time. I purchased the product over the Internet so I was a bit concerned about how this purchase would actually turn out, but I am totally thrilled with the assembled product. It is attractive, sturdy and looks like a real kitchen. I know that Carly and her friends will spend many happy hours playing with her kitchen.

And my husband the handyman was able to put the kitchen together without too much difficulty in 4 hours. He commented that the instructions and diagrams were clear and that the color coding of the bolts was very helpful.
Thanks for providing such a quality product."

Haley at Kids Wish Network

Here's a sweet picture of Haley, an adorable 3 year old who recently had her wish granted: to have her bedroom made over in a Tinker Bell theme. KidKraft provided our Large Pastel Kitchen per the request of Kids Wish Network.

An insert from Kids Wish Network:

Haley is a happy little girl who was born with PDA which is a congenital heart condition in which the valves are not closed in the heart. She also was born with a deformation known as bilateral radial club. Both of her arms are missing bones and she has no thumbs. Her arms had to be broken and pins inserted. Three times a year these pins have to be taken out and refitted to allow for her growth. Haley has also endured one open heart surgery and will need another one in a few years. In total this three year old little girl has already been thru 9 surgeries, with many more too come.

Despite all he has to go through, Haley remains true to her spirit. Haley is crazy about Tinker Bell and loves to play with baby dolls. Her favorite colors are purple and pink. Her favorite foods are pizza and McDonalds and she collects porcelain dolls.

Kids Wish Network is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who are living with life threatening illnesses. It is our mission to fulfill the last wishes of children who will never have the opportunities that most of us take for granted. We rely on the compassion of people such as you to make their dreams come true. The more in-kind donations we receive, the more wishes we can grant. You hold in your hands the opportunity to make a big difference in this child’s life.
